Only in Tulia, Texas

As you know I'm currently working in the bank here in Tulia. So far it's been much better than working in Plainview. I've moved up to 40 hours a week...but really its more like 45 or so. I open the bank everyday at 7:45 and stay til we close at 6:15...the days are really long! Well working in a bank in Tulia is much different I suppose than working in a bank in a larger city...here's what has happened so far.

Last week I was at my usual spot in the drive through at the bank when a lady in a mini-van drives up. I say hello to her and ask her how she's doing. Usually at this point the customer puts their deposit in the tube and sends it on its way for me to process...but not this lady. She asks if Cynthia is working, my boss, but I couldn't find her any where. I ask the lady (remember this is all over the microphone speaker) if I could give her a message and this was her response:

"Could you tell Cynthia that her son has been making fun of my daughter at school and I'm really getting frustrated with it. Please have her call me at home asap."

I respond..."Ok, sure I'll give her the message." The mini-van mom replys....

"Her son has been making fun of my daughter because her dad is in jail and he's even made up a song about him...it goes like this...."

And then yes...she proceeds to sing the song about the dad in jail over the microphone for the entire bank to hear. I was clueless...what do I do? Was I supposed to write the song down? Was I supposed to sing it back to Cynthia...I couldn't believe what was happening. When I relayed the message to my boss she seemed like nothing had happened and in Tulia, Texas nothing had happened...this behavior is completely normal!
